|Future Leaders Finalists|
|9&10 News and Don’s Auto Clinic want to recognize our future leaders with a scholarship opportunity. After reviewing over 200 applications three finalists have been selected. Each of these students will receive a Kindle Fire HDX and one will receive $2,000 for college! The runner up will also receive $1,000 for college and $500 will go the third place.
Meet these finalists and watch their PSAs below. They are listed in no particular order.
“As a young person, I want to leave my mark, and community service helps me to do this,” says Becky Lint from Kingsley High School. Becky has been leaving her mark through The Rock Locker, a clothing store she co-founded that gives away gently used clothing to kids in need. She works at the store, collects and cleans donations, and coordinates volunteers. She also serves through Student Council, National Honor Society, Forgiven Ministries, The Giving Tree, and much more. Click here to hear more about Becky.
Katharine Janes is preparing to graduate from Sacred Heart Academy in Mt. Pleasant. Katharine is a board member of the Michigan Community Service Commission, LEAGUE Michigan Commission, and President of the Youth Advisory Committee. She is the founder of the anti-bullying organization Students for Students and has volunteered with many different projects. Katherine enjoys these experiences saying, “I feel ignited with enthusiasm when serving others, more fulfilled and alive than ever before, and will continue to follow this path for the remainder of my life.” Meet Katharine by clicking here.
Mikaela Ashton is a Senior at Grayling High School. She is involved in the GHS Student Senate, Walk to Cure Diabetes, The Fence of Faith as part of the Veterans Day Assembly, Christian Help Center, and much more. Mikaela says, “the reason I commit myself to these projects and helping the community as much as possible is because I not only find happiness and beauty in helping others, but I realize these services end up touching my heart.” Learn more about Mikaela by clicking here.
